| Issues/challenges | This publication provides a comprehensive review of literature and practice in the field of post-conflict private sector development, identifying areas of agreement, and other issues where further debate and research are still required. The Review builds on hundreds of reports, studies and articles, from development agencies, academia and the field. A full list of these, with hyperlinks to most of the resources, can be viewed here. A list with links to key resources is available here. The Review discusses, among other things, the characteristics of the post-conflict private sector, and the ways in which the development community can engage with it. The publication also gives an overview of current approaches and experiences across development agencies active in the field. It should appeal in particular to PSD professionals, peace-building and conflict specialists, researchers and policymakers - both in the field and at headquarters. What distinguishes post-conflict PSD from PSD in other situations? How is PSD best carried out in conflict-affected environments? The Review seeks to answer these questions. It also offers practical advice for making PSD interventions sensitive and responsive to conflict, for example through the use of conflict assessment tools and by engaging with a wider range of stakeholders. An additional section considers how results measurement might be adjusted to fit the needs of post-conflict PSD programmes.
